The Fugitive (1993)

Viewing March '19 ///

Full to the brim with high intensity sequences, what could have become a stale action flick was lifted by noteworthy performances from Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee-Jones. The narrative cleverly rewards our patience as its storylines merge and Ford becomes a truly classic heroic character, taking on all antagonistic forces in his stride. Watching this as part of my research for my debut feature script, a surreal chase film, this viewing helped me re-grasp the cat-and-mouse fundamentals that really are a trope of chase films, and something that can be twisted and moulded into something different.
